Product detailed description
This test measures the level of carbohydrate-deficient transferrin (CDT) in the blood, which is a specific laboratory marker of long-term and excessive alcohol consumption. Elevated values typically occur after regular intake of higher amounts of alcohol over several weeks.
The test is mainly used for monitoring chronic alcohol abuse, verifying abstinence, and for occupational, clinical, and traffic-medicine purposes. Unlike blood ethanol testing, CDT reflects long-term alcohol exposure and is not influenced by a single episode of alcohol intake shortly before blood sampling.
