FOLIC ACID IN ERYTHROCYTES
Related products
Product detailed description
This blood test is used to assess the long-term status of folic acid (vitamin B9) in the body. Unlike serum folate measurement, the level in erythrocytes reflects folic acid intake and availability over several weeks to months.
The test is suitable when folate deficiency is suspected, which may lead to anemia, fatigue, impaired blood cell formation, elevated homocysteine levels, or, during pregnancy, an increased risk of fetal developmental defects. The result also helps to evaluate the effectiveness of folic acid supplementation.
