The Hantavirus IgG and IgM test is a laboratory blood test used to detect antibodies against hantaviruses. Hantaviruses are viruses primarily transmitted by rodents and may cause illnesses associated with symptoms such as fever, muscle pain, headache, and in some cases kidney or lung involvement.

The test evaluates two types of antibodies:

• IgM antibodies – may indicate a recent or active infection,
• IgG antibodies – usually indicate past exposure to the infection.

Test results should always be interpreted together with clinical symptoms, medical history, and possible exposure risk.
