Mycoplasma pneum antibody test
The Mycoplasma pneumoniae IgA, IgG, IgM test is used to diagnose infection caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae, a common cause of respiratory diseases, especially pneumonia. The test measures levels of IgA, IgG and IgM antibodies in the patient's blood:
- IgM antibodies appear early after infection and their presence indicates the acute phase of the disease.
- IgA antibodies are often present in the early stages of infection, especially in mucosal infections.
- IgG antibodies appear later and their presence indicates ongoing or past infection or immunity to the pathogen.
Thus, the examination helps to determine the stage of infection and the presence of an immune response.
