    Product detailed description

    The a-GAD test is used to detect autoantibodies against the enzyme glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD), which are often present in autoimmune forms of diabetes, especially type 1 diabetes. The presence of these antibodies indicates that the immune system is attacking the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. This test is also useful in distinguishing LADA (latent autoimmune diabetes in adults) from type 2 diabetes, which can significantly influence the choice of appropriate treatment.
