Anti-Ovarian Antibodies (a-Ovaria)

A blood test used to detect antibodies directed against ovarian tissue. These antibodies may indicate an autoimmune reaction in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the ovaries. Such a process can impair ovarian function, affect the production of sex hormones, and in some cases contribute to reduced fertility or premature ovarian insufficiency.

The test is used as a supplementary diagnostic tool in the evaluation of menstrual cycle disorders, premature menopause, infertility, and other hormonal abnormalities. It may also be included as part of a broader assessment when an autoimmune condition affecting the reproductive system is suspected.

Results should always be interpreted in conjunction with the patient's clinical condition, hormonal profile, and other gynecological and laboratory findings. A positive result alone does not necessarily indicate disease but may provide important information when investigating the cause of reproductive or hormonal problems.
