The Scleroderma Blot is a specialized blood test designed to detect specific autoantibodies associated with systemic sclerosis (scleroderma). It enables the simultaneous detection of multiple autoantibodies that may be associated with different forms and clinical manifestations of this autoimmune disease.
The test is primarily used when systemic sclerosis is suspected, to further investigate a positive antinuclear antibody (ANA) result, or as part of the differential diagnosis of systemic autoimmune diseases. The results may help support the diagnosis and further characterize the disease and should always be interpreted together with clinical symptoms and other laboratory findings.
