Healthy Blood Vessels I – Factor V Leiden and F2 Prothrombin

Product detailed description
The Factor V Leiden and F2 prothrombin genetic test identifies inherited genetic variants associated with an increased tendency to form blood clots, also known as thrombophilia. Certain genetic variants can increase the risk of venous thrombosis, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism.
Factor V Leiden (F5) and the prothrombin F2 gene mutation are among the most common and clinically significant inherited genetic risk factors for thrombophilia. These variants affect the blood clotting process and may increase the likelihood of abnormal blood clot formation, particularly when combined with other risk factors such as prolonged immobility, surgery, pregnancy, or the use of estrogen-containing hormonal contraceptives.
The Healthy Blood Vessels I genetic test helps determine whether you carry these inherited risk variants. The results may support an individualized assessment of venous thrombosis risk and help healthcare professionals consider appropriate preventive measures.
What does the test detect?
-
The presence of the Factor V Leiden mutation in the F5 gene.
-
The presence of the G20210A mutation in the F2 prothrombin gene.
-
Whether the variants are present in one or both copies of the respective genes.
-
Inherited genetic predispositions associated with an increased risk of venous blood clots.
Carrying these genetic variants does not necessarily mean that thrombosis will develop. Similarly, a negative result does not exclude other inherited or acquired causes of thrombophilia. Test results should be interpreted by a healthcare professional alongside personal and family medical history.
